Structure of Neuron- Neuron consists of a star shaped cell. Which is called Cyton.
The longest of the many thin filaments of a cyton is called an axon or axon.
Its other branched and small amplifications are called dendrites.
The axons themselves branch at their ends that end in a microscopic knot-like formation called synapse knots or synaptic knobs.
Axons are surrounded by a covering of fatty substances called medullary or myelin sheaths.
The part between two nodes is called internode.
Above the myelin sheath is a thin membrane called neurilemma.
It is made up of flat and vertical cells called Schwann cells.
When the axon is too long, it is called a nerve fibre.
